Private New York City-based family seeks an experienced Houseman / Butler / Server / Steward to assist with the handiwork, housekeeping, general upkeep and service and hospitality management of their secondary Hamptons home. The ideal candidate is a true team-player with a “no task too big or too small” attitude. The schedule for this position consists of a 5-day workweek inclusive of weekends when the family is in residence.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
• Administering all elements of hospitality, food and beverage service within the residence on a daily basis
• Hands on service in all elements of hospitality, in conjunction with additional members of the household staff
• Acting on behalf of and reporting to the family’s House & Estate Managers
• Personal shopping, running errands, and concierge work as needed and upon request
• Acting as an extension of the House Manager with vendor and contractor relationships including calendaring, accounts payable, project management, etc.
• Assisting with event production for social/religious gatherings, philanthropic events, political fundraisers, and additional private events
• Knowledge of the treatment and handling of antiques, fine art and furniture and detail cleaning
• Wardrobe management and packing
• Light general housekeeping when needed
• Packing and unpacking for travel, closet organization and floral arrangements
• Additional Butler / Server / Steward roles and responsibilities as needed and requested
| | | | | Requirements:
• Strong command of English language; superior communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
• Minimum 1 - 2+ years related hospitality or yacht experience
• Prior experience on Yachts (motor or sailing) a PLUS; ideally a former yacht stew/steward
• Be knowledgeable in formal etiquette and table setting
• Must have strong time management, punctuality and multi-tasking skills
• Flexibility in scheduling with willingness to work long hours and overtime as needed
• An honest and committed individual who has attention to detail and strong follow-through skills
• Willing and able to work in a home with children and pets
• Legally able to work in the United States
