Description:

Prominent Upper East Side couple seeks a proactive, responsible, organized and self-motivated House Manager to assist with the service, coordination, management, and maintenance of their residence. The position is full-time, Live-In, and consists of a typical five-day workweek, Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm with overriding flexibility for longer hours and additional days as needed upon special request. This position provides private accommodations with a private entrance. The candidate will be comfortable working around large dogs.

This individual will act as gatekeeper to the principal and organize all aspects of their life. A keen eye is important to preserve the aesthetic of the residence. This individual will be a motivated self-starter and possess a “no task is too big or small” attitude. Strong leadership skills are important, as this individual must onboard, train, and manage, the other members of the domestic staff. The candidate must have exceptional time management and task prioritization skills in order to efficiently assist with the running of the residence. Additionally, the individual will have experience in a formal household.


Responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:
• Management of household staff including onboarding, hiring and training
• Serving as an all-around gatekeeper to the principal
• Personal shopping, stock procurement, running errands, and concierge work; household inventory management
• Demonstrating a hands-on approach to daily house maintenance
• Overseeing any home projects and construction
• Assisting in the coordination of special events
• Ensuring the residence is in pristine guest-readiness condition at all times
• Oversight of all deliveries and general maintenance of the residence; making client aware of any necessary repairs or purchases that are beyond the scope of the household staff
• Ensuring the proper care of fine art, furnishing, and antiques
• Additional House Manager / Butler responsibilities as requested by the principal

 
 
Requirements:

• Strong command of English language; superb communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
• Minimum 5 – 10+ years related experience working in a similar role for a private estate or family
• Exceptional organizational skills and dedication to responsibilities; above and beyond attitude
• Polished, poised, and professional; strong time management skills and task prioritization
• Incredibly hands-on approach to household management
• Ability and experience in cohesively managing and overseeing vendors and contractors
• Experience in a formal residence preferred
• Comfortable and confident working in high stress, fast-paced environments where the utmost discretion and confidentiality are required
• Comfortable working around large dogs
• Able to lift and carry heavy items
• Exceptional “razor-sharp” eye for detail and organizational skills, aesthetically-minded
• Technology savvy with proficiency in both Mac and PC systems, Microsoft Office Suite and smart home systems; adept in operating smart home technology and accompanying security systems
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record and zero points on license;
• Legally able to work within the United States
