Private health-minded, Kosher family seeks a seasonal Live-Out Private Chef to prepare one to two meals per day in their secondary home in Bridgehampton. Meals will include dinner on weeknights, lunch and dinner on weekends, as well as provisioning, grocery shopping, supply stocking, and overall culinary needs of their estate. The schedule will largely consist of a Wednesday through Sunday workweek, with the overriding need for flexibility while the family is in the residence. This individual will also be responsible to assist with cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen at the end of each meal.
Driving will be required for this position, as the candidate will be responsible for purchasing ingredients for all meals to be prepared. Ideal candidate should have a strong network of food suppliers and local shops from which they draw their specialized ingredients from, including Kosher vendors. The candidate will be expected to prepare farm to table meals so knowledge of local farm stands, fish markets, etc. is preferable. The family consists of three young children, so the candidate must be comfortable working in an environment with children in this age range, as well as prepare individualized meals for each age appropriate need.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
• Creating fresh seasonal, cuisine for the family, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, five days a week
• Understanding and following Kosher law and procedures
• Overseeing both front and back of house operations during times of entertaining, guests in residence, and events
• Assuming additional culinary-based roles for the family as needed and upon request | | | Requirements:
• Culinary degree A PLUS but not required
• Strong command of English language; superb communication skills, both written and verbal; Hebrew a plus
• Superior knowledge of Kosher rules and regulations; experience in a Kosher home a plus
• Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
• Minimum 5 - 10+ years related experience working as a Private Chef or in a similar role
• Must be health-conscious and able to cook farm to table meals
• Willing and able to work in a child friendly environment
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a domestic team
• Flexibility in scheduling with willingness to work long hours and overtime as needed
• Polished, poised, and professional; strong time management skills and task prioritization
• Comfortable and confident working in high stress, fast-paced environments where the utmost discretion and confidentiality are required
• Valid Driver’s License is a MUST; clean driving record and zero points on license; comfortable purchasing groceries and running errands via own car
